Many people all over the world recognise the name "Cameron Mackintosh"…The Cameron Mackintosh organization is the best known & biggest producer of stage musicals in the world - they're located in London, but produce shows world-wide…
Amongst their many hits are: "Jesus Christ, Superstar", "Evita", "Miss Saigon", "Cats", "Les Misérables", "Phantom of the Opera", etc… (www.cmackintosh.com)…
Whenever Cameron produces a show in Australia or New Zealand - he uses the same shoemaker as us - "Alexi" Shoes... (as do most of the major producers of live shows, television & movies in Australia & New Zealand)…
Why do Cameron Mackintosh & other major producers use the same person that we use for shoes in their productions ???
Because he's not only the absolute best shoemaker in Australia & New Zealand, he's one of the best in the world - he's a "craftsman"…
In fact, he's one of only 8 people in the entire world that Cameron Mackintosh chooses to make his shoes…
Additionally, Alexi also make shoes for the main characters in almost every single large-scale stageshow that's put on in Australia - plus an astounding number of the Movies & TV Series that are shot "downunder"...
However, this also means our customers sometimes have to wait a little longer than usual for their shoes to be made…
Eg: Alexi was half way through making shoes for our Wintersun customers, when he was commissioned to make shoes for the new stage show which recently commenced in Australia: "The Wizard of Oz"…
This meant that our Wintersun orders went "on hold" until after the "Oz" shoes were finished… (we accept that this will sometimes happen with our Alexi orders as these shows have to work to strict deadlines)…
We then did a 'ring-around' to our Wintersun customers to let them know the reason their shoes would take a couple of weeks longer than what we'd thought…
Without a single exception, they were rapt to know that someone so highly skilled and sought-after was making their shoes - & they readily accepted the extra time their shoes would take as a result…
In fact they got a real "buzz" when they learned the reasons for the delay… it was "worth the wait" knowing that the "best in the business" was making their shoes...
Yes, there are certainly 'similar-looking' shoes to our range available elsewhere, because like ours, they're basically all copies of vintage styles…
However, quality is a different matter altogether…
Each shoe is hand-made & finished on individual lasts - eg: the "old fashioned " way…
Because these are most certainly not the typical "assembly-line" shoes that you mostly see in this day & age…
Our exclusive agreement with Alexi Shoes means that 'gorgeous' are the sole distributors in regard to our range of rock 'n' roll & swing shoe styles - Alexi do not supply anyone else other than gorgeous…
There's an old saying that "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten" - & we frequently say exactly this to our customers - although it's also fair to say that our Alexi shoes are very reasonably priced for such top quality products…
Consequently, we make a point of telling our customers about the "Cameron Mackintosh" connection… not only because it's true - it's also a fabulous sales aid…
