Let's face it - most tap shoes out there are very
much on the "boring side"
And it can be a real "pain in the butt" - when you're
trying to source some "character shoes" or
"shoes with a difference" for your performances.

“I choose not to make boring footwear, so if you are
looking for basic Black or Brown shoes, then the
'Rockabillity' range is probably NOT for you.
Being trained in Orthopaedic footwear, I am well aware
of the damage that badly fitting and poorly shaped
footwear can do to your feet - and the resulting,
sometimes long-term, problems to your body.
The majority of 'Rockabillity' footwear is made on
a unisex last, with most of the styles having
low, flatish heels and laced up.
I can make shoes to a very wide choice of styles, and
you can even have a hand in designing to your own
requirements - you can contact Ray or Mary
from `gorgeous' for further details.
'Rockabillity' footwear is also particularly suitable
for those who wear orthotics, or who suffer
from bunions and other feet ailments.
I make all shoes in the 'Rockabillity' range completely
by hand - they are even “hand-pulled” over shoe
lasts in the traditional “cobbler's” method, as
used by shoe makers for many centuries.
This method of shoe-making means these shoes are of
a superior quality - however this also means that
“as in days gone by”, there can sometimes be
slight imperfections in the finish, such as
leather “wrinkles”, uneven cutting or
stitching, scuff marks, etc.
Unfortunately, these imperfections cannot be avoided,
but it has no bearing on the construction of the shoes.
Your gorgeous new shoes are a substantial investment
towards your “dance enjoyment” - so it obviously
makes good sense to look after them.
So to help this process along, regularly clean them with
a quality cleanser that also “feeds” the leather.
With the exception of footwear worn in quite “extreme”
conditions, eg: building sites, athletics, hiking,
climbing, etc - Rock `n' Roll & Swing dance shoes
undergo more stress than other shoes you're
ever likely to wear, due to the “twisting”,
“turning”, “spinning” inherent in dancing.
Unless you've chosen “suede” soles, your gorgeous dance
shoes can be worn absolutely anywhere - inside,
outside, on concrete or gravel surfaces.
It doesn't matter where you wear them.
In fact, the more you dance in & wear them, the better they
get -as they tend to soften a little & “mold” to your feet.
However, if your shoes have the temporary gloss black
“resin" sole, it's wise to sandpaper or scuff the soles to
ensure they're not initially too slippery to dance in.
You should enjoy heaps of good dancing in them."
